all sorts of bicycle fun

During the Spring this year, I thought it would be really nice to have the capacity to go on bike rides this summer. However, Andy just turned 4 at the end of July, and I wasn't really confident in his ability to take on the kind of bike ride his sisters and I could.

So I did some research. I found that my little Civic could only hold an up to 3 bike, bike rack. I bought one. But before I did, I had to come up with a plan for how we were going to actually transport FOUR bikes to wherever it was we would go.

I thought about one of those tag-along bikes, and found that they weren't exorbitantly priced. They were however, HUGE and it would have to go on the bike rack. I was hoping i could fit it into the trunk.

The research continued (I'm making this sound like it took a lot of time and effort, but in reality I didn't spend very much time at all... google is good like that. I found what i wanted pretty much right away)

There is such a thing called a "trail gator." It's a bar that connects from the back of my bike to the front of his bike lifting his front wheel off the ground allowing it to trail. It's sooooo cool! So we got one! (The link I put on here is to the actual site, but Sean found it on ebay for about half)

He loves the thing and it works so well. My bike and the girls 2 fit on the bike rack and then Andy's fits into the trunk. Plus, he pretty much thinks it's the coolest thing ever :) Can't say that I blame him. I think it's pretty cool too!

Here he is on a little ride with my dad. By the way, my dad is like kid central. I don't know what it is, but pretty much all kids LOVE my dad :)

Anyways, yesterday we went on a 2 1/2 mile ride! I'm so excited to have this now, if you couldn't tell...

That is very cool! Maybe something for our family to look into.

Enjoy the rides - summer's almost over. *sigh*

I'm so impressed that you did that for the kids you nanny for! You, are like, the coolest nanny ever! I wish we had places to ride bikes here (I'm missing Oregon and all the bike lanes).
