WWWAT: A different view

This week's wordy wednesday with a twist is "a different view."

I have been meaning to post this picture for a few days since I took it to show off my new blonde locks, and since the angle was different than I would normally do, it serves a dual purpose! I don't have a ton for this week, but I actually have been inspired by this picture to try this angle more often.

It's taken me a couple months to go completely blonde, but I finally did it!

If you want to see the stages, you can look here and here.

And maybe one of these days I'll actually post a picture of what it looks like when I took more than 30 seconds to do something with it ;)

Hop on over to The Adventures of an American Alien for more different views!

WWWAT: Summertime

***Since this was indeed a very tasty smoothie, I thought I would share what I put in it to make is so deliciously yummy. Melissa and I made a ton of smoothies this past spring and stumbled across adding some sort of natural juice mix into making it so much tastier and still keeping it totally healthy! The Bolthouse juice is my favorite, and although it is expensive, I broke up the cost figuring that a $4 container will make about 10 smoothies (with enough leftover for me to sip whenever i want :)***

-half a banana
-about 5 strawberries
-about a half cup of blueberries
-a whole nectarine (minus the pit!)
-and about 3/4 cup of bolthouse berry juice (you can use any kind, that's just the kind i had)
-as much ice as you like... to make it thicker or more runny

This time around for WWWAT I completely didn't have time to go out and find some specific shots... however, comma, I had these and realized that they are indeed one of my favorite parts of summer. So here ya go... the joy of fresh fruit to make smoothies :)

If you enjoyed these and would like to see more summertime photos, head on over to Rachel at American Mum and check it out!

WWWAT: Vintage

As is always with these WWWAT's, I almost always find myself waiting until the last minute... based on the premise that I have NO idea what to do. I should know better by now that my camera has a built in brain and when I'm holding it, I somehow manage to tap into that. Which is indeed a good thing!

Ok so anyways, I'm going to explain a little bit of the loveliness that is contained in the house I work at. Maureen has very eclectic/vintagey/mixed with modern taste in her decorating style. It really wasn't hard to find an abundance of cool stuff to photograph. The hard part was picking which ones to use!

Also, I am going to deem this post as a "not so wordless" entry. Because I just can't help my fingers... they're typing out of control and I am afraid what they will do if I try to stop them!

This is the first thing I came across, a beautiful glass sugar bowl that just happened to be filled with pansies! When I walked in this morning, I actually noticed that the pansies along the pathway were looking rather blossomless... and this is why :)

These cupboard latches could not go unphotographed. They were literally begging me to take them. These are what most of the latches look like around the house... and I love them.

This doorknob is pretty much amazing. I really don't have a lot to say about it though... everything I thought of was promptly deleted... so I think i'm just gonna leave that one alone :)

this will be the only "wordless" picture i post today :)

This is about as vintage as you can get. I mean seriously, how often do you see wallpaper like this anymore? and then the chest handles that are getting their bokeh on... so lovely :)

This. This I saved for last. I stumbled across this as I thought I was done taking pictures. It's a collection of The Black Stallion books. They even smell vintage!

Well that's what I came up with. I truly had a great time this time around (of course I always do!) Many thanks to Rachel at AmericanMum for hosting! Head on over to her site and check out all the other entries!

WWWAT: Chocolate, mmmmm...

I was almost ready to skip this time around because i've had so little time to do the things that I actually HAVE to do... buuuut, I had a few extra minutes this afternoon before I had to leave and I asked my mom to help me conduct a super quick photoshoot.

Then when I got home, I was like, "OK I am going to bed NOW." but i couldn't do it. My resolve/self-control is not good enough. I thought, "oh i'll just sort through them and put them up." nooooo, I had to get crazy ideas which eventually led to the final you see here.

This cake by the way is THE best chocolate cake i have ever eaten. EVER. I am not exaggerating. I am currently in the process of making my friend's wedding cake (which I will post about later once it's all done) and this is one of the flavors. This was an extra cake I had while baking all the layers for it, so I topped it with some chocolate frosting... and oh myyy goodness. That's all i'll say about that. So much for "wordless wednesday" HA!

this posted a little bit small for my liking, but if you click on it, it should open up in a new window at a bigger size :)

Now go check out American Mum and see some more crazy chocolate pictures!

WWWAT: Self Portrait

*clarification*
*I didn't realize the way I worded my awkward tabletop picture taking experience made it sound like i had sprained my ankle. I actually DIDN'T sprain my ankle, I only ALMOST redid the damage I have just recovered from :) thanks for the sympathy though, i'll take it!*

I have to say that this was one of the harder assignments for me. I mean i have taken *countless* self photos, you know, stick your arm way out, smile, and snap! But alas, I wanted this to be a little nicer/different. Well it still looks like i could have held my arm out and taken it, but I didn't! I actually used a tripod.

I almost killed myself a few times in the process as my first thought was to set the tripod up as high as it would go so that I could stand beneath it (i do that often with people I photograph and I love the look) but in order to make it high enough, it would have to be taller than me, requiring that I climb to get up high enough to see what i am photographing! Picture this: tripod on chair (two legs on the chair, one leg balancing on the table), me ON table (a not very sturdy kitchen table) aaaaaaaaand a ten second timer. Let's just say that my sprained ankle is finally feeling normal again, and I almost reversed that trying to get off the table... and my face was always out of focus. HA!

So I resorted to *sitting* Whoa! what a concept! that way one can be lower than the camera and still not have to climb to see through it! It's genius time! Anyways, I'm sure you want me to stop rambling on about this and just get down to business, so here you go...

let me know what you think *grin*

Now head over to American Mum and check out some more faces (beautiful ones i might add :)... and if you've got it in ya, let's see your face up there too!

Wordless Wednesday with a Twist - part 3

Since I had a hard time figuring out how to put this one together, it has ended up being a mix up of pictures and being categorized as "my favorite colors" :)

And just as a little forewarning... when i'm asked what my favorite color is, I tell them "rainbow." I'm dead serious, I love so many things about all colors, I couldn't possibly choose one. I tend to gravitate towards the brighter colors, but I try to keep the color pallette of my mind wide open!

So I went on an adventure to find things that were aesthitically pleasing to my eye, and hopefully they are to yours as well!

Wordless Wednesday with a Twist - part 2

It's that time again. Today's theme is "where you live." I was wondering how in the world i was going to get out and take these pictures... since it is disgustingly cold. and I know that the rules said we could use old pics... but i really didn't have anything worthwhile. So on my way home from work one late afternoon, I couldn't help but notice how perfect the light and the sun were. A rarity around here I try to take advantage of! So off i went and took a very cold walk around the village and this is what i came up with.

After you take a look at where I live, head on over to Rachel's site and check out everyone else's.
