yep, i posted twice. sue me.

In the midst of my very honorable efforts to work on Tuesday's session, I was highly distracted by Sting's new tank. I bought the vase almost two weeks ago, but it's taken me this long for my vision to become complete. Unfortunately for the lovely little plant I chose, the tops stick out of the water and are consequently parched. Gasping for air water.

I think he likes the new look. I like it way better than before. I also am developing the habit of photographing him in almost total darkness... hey, it is what it is. what can i say?

In actual, more important, news that you actually care about, I will be shooting my second err third (counting my very first 4 years ago) wedding tomorrow. It's supposed to rain the entire day. But hey, if you remember correctly, I have experience with that. It's gonna be great no matter what :)

now, on to the star of this post. and his antics*. he wishes for me to caption these as follows.

whatchoo lookin at?

my name shall no longer be Sting, you may call me Swimby (ps I did not approve this name change)

a shadow lurking among the forestry, watching you as you sleep.

*yes, I am aware that i sound like a completely crazy cat fish lady. it happens.

and his name shall be called...

goodness me, I have forgotten all about the little poll I set up to name my fish!

I know, crazier things have never happened... what with other things to do that may be slightly more important than naming my fish... like for example BEATING MELISSA AT TETRIS!

Anyways, my fish now officially has a name... it iiiiiisssss...

STING

Thank you Andrea for the fabulous name suggestion. I loved it from the minute i read that comment... and knew no matter what happened, that would be the name for my fish in the end. However, honorable mention does go to Sally's suggestion for Kau'i which I did love... I love hawaii, and it really seemed appropriate what with the hawaiian sand and all... but alas, the fish does look like a rocker more than the island of hawaii. Therefore I have resolved to actually name Sting's house after the island of Kau'i (pronounced kah-oo-AH-ee).

I'm sorry Melissa, apparently you are the only one who thinks my fish should have been named after a PARASITE! I know you were both of those votes too... you probably logged in just so you could vote twice. I know your dirty little ways.

In other fish news, I have been having a problem of sorts. My little kitty Sophie makes a most wonderful bed buddy as she is immensely warm during these cold winter months. Plus, she is soft, and I like to pet her. However, since Sting has taken up residence in my room, all she is interested in is eating his bamboo and then ultimately him.

I have found the bamboo pulled up out of the sand twice so far even with my attempts to keep her out of there. it's sad really. she is meowing all the time and just dying for some love and attention... but she's naughty and cannot be allowed to eat my fish. or my bamboo for that matter. i think the leaves on the top of it are dying because of her carnage.

She's so stinkin evil. I'm trying to think of a way to keep her away from it whilst still being able to enjoy it as I have. Ugh. Stupid cats.

you had your chance...

now it's time to vote! There are 4 names in the sidebar from the suggestions that I received in this post. I have a favorite, but i'm not telling what it is.

So go ahead and VOTE! Let me know what you think... my fishy is starting to have a complex about the no-name thing. At least it's started eating again...

name that fish

A couple weeks ago, Andy really wanted a fish. So they bought him a very pretty betta. Well, I loved the vase the fish now lives in so much that I decided I wanted one of my own.

Yesterday, I went out on a mission. Find a fish.

Buy everything that goes with a fish.

I found me some bamboo and a vase that I just loved, but I didn't buy any rocks because I knew that I had enough things like that at home that would work really well.

And when I got home, I dug out this:

This is the sand that I stole from the island of Hawaii like 6 years ago. That's right. We were at Waimea bay on the north shore and the sand was unlike any i'd ever seen before. It was fine, but at the same time as if each piece was it's own stone. Anyways, I loved it so much that I brought a bucket back to the house and then packed it in my suitcase in about 4 layered ziploc bags.

I have used some over the years, but sparingly as I had yet to find the perfect application. This was it! I just love the way it looks in the new fishy house.

Speaking of which, there he is! The new little guy. He's very pretty with that spikey tail thing goin on. And pictures don't really do the color justice. He's a beautiful iridescent blue-green.

So, now I have to come up with a name. But I don't wanna just name it for the heck of it. I have had a lot of fish in my life, and usually the names are just given without much thought.

I decided what I would do is pick out the names I like best (hopefully from some suggestions from you!) and put them all up on a poll to see who likes what.

So leave a comment with a prospective name for my new little fishy :)

I put him in there last night, and he hasn't moved from this spot... I kinda feel bad, cuz i don't know why he isn't moving around. He was very hungry yesterday when I got him home. I think he was being starved. Maybe even a case for fish malnutrition. I cut him off after 10 pieces of food, cuz honestly, enough was enough. I didn't want 'im to explode or something!

Hopefully tonight when I get home he will be a bit happier. I heard you can train bettas to do simple tricks... hmmmm... we'll see about that

Anyways, I wanna know what you think! Who does he look like to you?
